Yesterday I was contacted by Chas Hird s daughter. advising me that Chas passed away a few days ago while on holiday in the lakes with his wife. Few details are available at the moment but is seems some wild swimming went wrong . Once I am told more I will advise.
Many of us will remember Chas at the wall where he climbed despite having Parkinsons disease. I am told that he also was a club member a few years ago

    Hi Folks

I received the following from Chas Hird,s daughter which his wife and children wish me to share

Thanks for informing Dad’s friends at the Castle Mountaineering Club. It was really touching to read all of the kind messages that were sent about him.
I think it would make sense to post something on the message board. Mainly so we can keep track of who might be interested in attending the funeral. If the following could be posted I would be very grateful.

Last week Charles Hird, former Castle Mountaineering Club member passed away suddenly while on holiday in the lakes district with his wife Pat.
We know he greatly enjoyed his time in the club and had many friends within it. We’d like to thank everyone who has already reached out with kind words in the last week, it means a lot.
We are currently in the process of arranging a funeral service for Charles. If you would be like to be informed of the details of this service when they become available please email charles.hird@talktalk.net stating your interest.

    Best wishes,
    Julian, Pat and Angela Hird
