Rope Technique courses
Andy Burgess from the Peak club is organising rope technique courses
The details are below. Andy is opening places to Castle members and other local clubs. If anybody is interested contact Andy directly. andy1burgess@aol.com
People who went on the courses last year found them worthwhile.2025 Training – Rope Technique courses possible dates: Saturday 1st March, Sunday 9th March, Saturday 12th, & Sunday 13th April.
Hi everyone, the club’s looking at running the following rope courses again:
Advanced Course (cost approx. £20pp) – improvised rescue, escaping the system, hoists ,lowers, counterbalance, abseil ,lots of other tricks to get out of trouble etc.
Transition to Trad Climbing Course (cost approx. £20pp) – placements, belays, rope management, stances, placing gear on lead (on top rope if appropriate and time allows) etc.
(We might be also able to run a Trad Leading Course – leading & belaying – for 2 or 4 people cost £80/£40pp – but have struggled to get people to commit to the same date.)
The courses would each be a full day, held at a suitable location out in the Peak.
If anyone is interested please comment here or reply to the emails that will be coming round, letting me know which course you’re interested in, & what dates you can/can’t do. I’ll then confirm courses/dates.
