11 and a dog met in Lytton for the walk across fields to Tansley Dale and on into Cressbrook Dale. At the Mill at the confluence with Millers Dale we crossed the Wye – losing one member, who returned from this point due to “an infestation of grandchildren” – and admired the hydroelectric scheme construction. Somewhere on this stretch we had a coffee break – such excitement.
We contoured on the path around the hillside, upstream on the right bank of the Wye, over both tunnels, with splendid views down into Millers Dale. A lunch break was taken on mossy boulders at the side of the path.
Dropping down into the dale at Litton Mill, we crossed and returned up Tideswell Dale to Litton. A recently-returned-from-Spain member (wrapped in many layers) was heard to comment on the amount of mud! Everyone else thought there wasn’t enough…
Thanks to all who came
