Several members have asked me about resizing photos for the
Message Board. It is possible to add attachments to messages
(provided you are logged in). Four attachments are allowed
but they all must be 512 k-bytes in size or less. Pictures
taken with modern digital cameras or phones typically have a
high resolution (number of pixels) and exceed this limit.
While this is good for prints or extracting a small section
of the image, it is much more than is needed for a web page.
The solution is to resize the photos before uploading them.
For example, Dick Murton has taken two photos for the report
of yesterday’s cycling meet which were 2688 x 1520 pixels
and about 2 mega-bytes in size. I reduced them to 800 x 452
pixels (< 250 k-bytes in size) and they can now be attached to the meet report. While I am happy to do this resizing for members, it should not be difficult to do for themselves. A good start is to right mouse click on the image and select "Open with" to see which programmes you have on your computer system that are capable of opening the image. In my case the list includes: Microsoft Office Paint Paint Shop Pro Windows Live Photo Gallery Windows Photo Viewer The last one is just a viewer but all the others have image editing functions which include resizing. I tend to use Office. A lot of people use Photoshop but I don't have that. Choose one of the options and choose Edit Pictures or some such. There should be a re-size option in there somewhere. Go to File > duplicate or Image > copy depending on your software. Then if you bog up you still have the original.

Often recommended to our clients. There are others, of course.
Hope that’s helpful.
