Alas Mary had gone down with a bug but five of us met at the start of her suggested route and that number swelled to seven as we passed through Hathersage. Perfect cold but dry weather helped as we started the climb up through Abney slowing up slightly as we passed the part of the road that had collapsed. Views were fantastic as we passed the gliding club and continued to be so as we passed through Windmill and on the high ground that ends with a steep descent towards Castleton. A hard right took us down Pindale and on to Hope where refreshments were taken at the Grasshopper Café (good café with place to put your bikes round the back). The cycle finished on the ever delightful lane through Thornhill and back to the start.
Thanks to Mary for the suggestion and hope you are feeling better.
Andrew
