The club is trying out use of Meetup over August on climbing meets. At the end of August I’ll be asking for feedback. I’ll collate this and take it to the next committee on 14th September to decide what we do next. There is no obligation to use Meetup at the moment. The aim of the trial is to see how it works. The trial is part of looking for ways to simplify communication. Using Meetup would put all the information about a meet in one place. This would only be achieved if we stopped using WhatsApp for meets.
If you take part in the trial, you will be able to give feedback on how it worked for you. However, I know some people don’t want to do this, partly because it involves giving personal details to the Meetup company.
I appreciate there are strong feelings either way on this, and there has been a lot of discussion during meets and in the committee. Send feedback to me directly, including if you have a view but don’t want to register with Meetup. Use my e mail, geoffnichols1955@gmail.com, with Meetup in the title. I’ll add your views to feedback for the committee. This gives me a job, but it’s better than trying to put together views from ad hoc conversations. Please do this by 28th August, although you can send feedback as soon as you like.
I’ve attached a description of Meetup to this message on the message board. It does not carry over to e mails so you’d need to pick it up from the message board version.
