ParticipantLangdale meet update
We have Raw Head Cottage booked for the nights of Thursday 31st July, Friday 1st August, and Saturday 2nd August. Leaving on the Sunday.
I can’t go as I double booked with doing a Scout trip in Scotland. Tom Andrews and Karen Stanley are going, who are Fell and Rock club members, so they can let people into the cottage on the Thursday and close it up on the Sunday.
To my knowledge – booked on so far are:
Three nights – Karen Stanley, Tom Andrews, Kathy Burgess, Gordon Riley, John Hutchinson, Ali and Andrew.
Two nights – Simon and Lorna, Alison Lindley, Fiona, Julian, Mary Reap and Marian Birket. If anybody booked on two nights wants to come on the Thursday night too – just let me know.
Similarly – if I’ve got any of these bookings wrong.I can deal with bookings / changed bookings etc, but my capacity to act as a travel agent will be limited between 21/6 to 11/7 while I’ll be away. Best to contact before or after.
If you have not already paid the club, the fee is £9 a night for Fell and Rock members; £14 a night if you are in a kindred club – such as the Climbers Club; £18 a night for anybody else. [Castle is not ‘kindred’]
The Cottage has two rooms sleeping 6 and one room sleeping 4 giving a total of 16 beds.
It is 2km west of Chapel Stile on the B5343, on the north side of the road, opposite the Wayfarers club hut on the south side.
If you have any problems while you are there, there will be Fell and Rock members in the Barn, which is next door. The warden is Pete Farnel rawhead@frcc.co.uk.
Parking is limited so it would be very helpful if people could lift share, using the whatsapp group.
The cooking facility is limited so organising yourselves into food groups cooking together would be sensible. Or bringing pre-cooked food. The water supply is from a stream behind the hut. This can dry up in summer! There will be bottled water in the barn but you could also take a large water container each.
Leave the hut in a wonderful condition.
Have a lovely time.
If you would like to run an away meet yourself let me know – I’m acting as away meets secretary ‘till November. We could do with a New Year meet, possibly one mid-February, and one next Easter. The other meets we have arranged are on the web site.
