An excellent turnout of at least 15 members mingled with the crowds on Froggatt today. Starting in a cloud inversion, [pictures please Helen], the day soon turned gloriously sunny and many routes were climbed. Although busy, [we coincided with 3 university groups from Southampton, Leicester and Bristol] everybody found plenty to do, including a few new ticks.
We were surrounded at times by very good climbers, queues were forming around Valkerie and 3 Pebble Slab amongst others, it was a trifle unnerving to watch solo ascents of 3 Pebble Slab and Great Slab, but all ended happily.
CMC members were ranged along the crag, some of the routes climbed were of the less popular variety but all had a very enjoyable day, as far as I could tell.
Personally, having climbed very few routes this year, it seems a shame that the climbing season is drawing to a close, after a great day seconding Leon [plus David and Linda at the end, cheers Leon, ]
Maybe next year will see an improvement?
If you missed out today, there’s a final Sunday climbing meet at Rivelin Edge next week and I believe there may still be a place left in the Yorks Dales hut the following weekend.
