Castle members (and their guests) are invited to the first in a new programme of Peak District slide shows being organised by the Eagle Ski Club.
This will be a double bill lecture, on Tuesday, 1 December 2015, about two recent expeditions organised by the club, and will take place at the Grouse Inn (http://www.thegrouseinn-derbyshire.co.uk/) near Froggatt, starting at 7.0pm
– Ladakh – The Long Way Round, given by Mike Spencer. A description of the 2015 ESC Expedition to Zanskar in northern India, including the adventure of (not) getting to Zanskar, the warm welcome by the people of Kanji and the visual and cultural feast whilst there.
– East Greenland – Travels with a Dog in Bear Country, given by Adele Long. After initial snowmobile access from Scoresbysund, the expedition explored the ski mountaineering potential of Liverpool Land at 71° north on the east coast of Greenland.
The first lecture will begin at 7pm. There will be a Pie & Pea supper served between the lectures, and the cost will be £10 (including the supper, payable at the door). If you would like to come, please send an email to the organiser, Steve Wright (steve@overtonhall.com), to book a place, and order a meal (veg or non-veg option), before Friday 27 November, so that he can get the catering right.
