On visiting the clubroom today, I found a small ‘pond’ below the clubroom window, being fed by a stream of water from the building [owned by the pub I presume] set back to the right of the clubroom, and with no sign of it emptying through a small drain below the same window. On enquiring inside the Rising Sun, the chef told me that they were aware of it and had informed Yorkshire Water, who had visited and taken photos of it. So hopefully it will all get sorted out soon by them.
I also found the gate in the hedge bolted at the top, which I couldn’t reach from the pub side, so requiring an athletic wriggle through the gap to the left of the gate [thankfully we ARE a mountaineering club] to manage to open it from the clubroom side. Perhaps the pub have started doing this to stop customers wandering into their yard from the garden, but just a warning for the next members there.
