In spite of the miserable weather in Sheffield and Chesterfield, by the time 6 of us got out to Monyash, the rain had cleared – or perhaps had not even inflicted itself on that area, as the roads were dry. A quick cuppa to get us going and then off on a loop on mainly backroads past Flagg to Over Haddon, back along the Long Rake, by-passing Parsley Hay, the gated road via Pilsbury to Hartington, where we took up Bill’s recommendation of the farm café. Thanks Bill. Onwards through Hulme End, avoiding the B road, to Longnor, Crowdecote, Earl Sterndale and a more gentle climb up to Sparklow – almost in the sun, and a final cup of tea at Monyash café. 31 miles, 3238 ft of ascent. There must have been something in the tea, because we only descended 3205 ft! And apparently, I should have burned off 2200 Calories. Thanks everyone for a great day.
