The primary task of this group was to look at the tenure of committee members and to propose a method which would encourage participation whilst avoiding stagnation. The brief was widened to include a revision of items in the constitution related to membership in general. The process revealed that items in section 10 which we agreed to change at the last AGM had not yet been actioned so this was included.
The working group fed back to the committee at the June meeting requesting that committee members take a decision on whether Honorary membership should continue and whether the wording of clause 4.2 should be revised. At the most recent committee meeting a vote was taken on these two items, a majority verdict being reached on both. This is reflected in the attached constitution. Items amended are indicated by yellow markers, the key points in the amendment are green.
The document presented by the working group to explain their thinking to the committee is also attached as it may be of help in understanding the proposals.
Ideally the amendments would be accepted as a package by the AGM. To enable us to identify any items which may prevent this, members are invited to use the meetings set up for the club room group to raise issues. These are Monday 19th Sep – Zoom, Thur 21 Sep in the club room.
