InactiveHi all
It’s my meet at Shining Clough on Sunday. Meeting at 10:30am at the car parking area at GR 083 994 at the south west corner of Woodhead Reservoir off the B6105 east of Crowden. Should be sufficient parking there. There’s alternative parking at GR 084 998 but you’ll have to make your own way to the crag from there. It’s about 40/50 minute walk to the crag from either car park. Awesome venue in a great location with climbs at all grades.
BUT – Weather currently forecast for rain showers in the morning turning to steady drizzle in the afternoon!!!! Keep an eye on the weather and we’ll see how it develops.
Give me a call or text if you need anything. Try and let me know if you’re coming in case of bad weather. 07813327094

InactiveI’ve consulted 6 different weather web sites and they all appear to agree on light rain/drizzle, turning heavier for Sunday, plus a wet lead in through Friday and Saturday. I’ll continue to monitor it but already considering moving the meet to somewhere more local. Shining Clough is a good drive away and a long walk in so I think it will be better having a meet closer by should the weather be too bad to climb. I’ll check it again tomorrow evening/Saturday morning and update on here but looking likely we’ll try more local.

InactiveRight. Weather situation hasn’t improved. Still looking damp, misty, drizzly rain showers and some heavy showers. Doesn’t make sense trailing all the way to Shining Clough in these conditions. The meet will now be at Stanage Popular End around Square Buttress and Suzanne. We can meet at Hooks Car Park at 10:30. I’ll be there with my climbing gear and running gear in case it’s a wash out.
Try and let me know if you’re going to risk it 07813327094. If I don’t see anyone I’ll go for a run.

InactiveMeet Report for 12th June Climbing
After days of monitoring incoming weather systems and the emerging wet forecast, it was decided to move the meet to Stanage. The meet organiser arrived at 10:30 and speculatively meandered up and down Hooks Car Park wondering “if anybody would brave the weather?” Nobody did. This was a wise choice: the crag was already damp, it was drizzly and there was a heavy shower that passed through around midday. Skies were still looking ominous as i left the Peaks around 2pm.
The meet organiser went for a 6 mile run over Winn Hill instead.
A day much more suited to running than climbing.
