Catherine Destivelle & film crew visiting Castle MC- 7th Sept

*****Castle MC members have a once in a life time opportunity to meet Catherine Destivelle in our very own club room and climb the following day with her****

For those who don’t know, Catherine is a French rock climber and mountaineer who is considered one of the greatest and most important female climbers in the history of the sport!!! She is taking part in a documentary about the British climbing history and Alpinsim.

The TV producer (Vincent) would like Castle MC members to have a meet at our Club Room on the evening 7th September (time TBC). Here, members can chat to Catherine and also be interviewed about the history of climbing in the Peak, Alpinism and our club.
NOTE: There is special emphasis on the women climbers of the club, so even though you may not climb much (anymore) you have the historical knowledge that Catherine and the producers are after.

Friday 8th September – CALLING ALL LADIES, especially those with knowledge/ interest in Alpinism. This is your chance to climb with Catherine Destivelle – most likely at Stanage but there will be indoor alternatives if the weather is poor.
Let me know directly if you’re interested and available for this, hopeuflly we have at least a handful. It woudl also be good if you can pop along to the Thursday evening meet too to meet Catherine and the directors.

This opportunity came from an old Castle member Geoff Birtles who will be attending.

More info to come as Vanda/Paul (club room custodians) may have ideas about the meet or want help to prepare the club room for the visit.

Geoff Nichols will be there to greet everyone from 7pm. As I mentioned there’s no set agenda to the evening so it wont matter too much if people turn up later than that.
