A messge from the BMC Peak area:

We’re looking for a Secretary
Like the idea of contributing to the work of the BMC? Want the satisfaction of working with like-minded folk to develop the Area Meetings to be an inclusive and engaging way of communicating between the organisation and its members?
The role of Local Area Secretary has become vacant as our previous incumbent, Samantha, has stepped down. This position is available for you to be co-opted into with immediate effect, and will then be voted on at the local AGM in November 2023 (don’t worry, it’s not as frighteningly formal as this wording suggests!).
Local Area meetings (four a year) provide a key route for the BMC to hear the opinions of its members and to disseminate information, as well as providing a forum for discussion of local issues. As well as helping to organise meetings and contributing to their smooth running, as Secretary you can help develop the engagement of members in the local area. This is a real ‘for the grass-roots’ role.
Here’s what Samantha has to say about her time in this role: “Joining the BMC Peak Area team has been a fabulous experience for me. It feels great giving back to an area that gives us so much and is so important to so many people. Being part of the team not only keeps you informed on what’s happening in the Peak, but you also get the opportunity to meet so many wonderfully knowledgeable and passionate, likeminded people. A great experience for anyone who loves The Peak.”
