I’m planning a longish (23 miles) walk with a bunch of scrambles thrown in for good measure. There are shorter options!
Starting in Castleton the excitement begins straight away with an ascent of the Winnats Elbow Ridge, grade 3 (easy to avoid if you don’t fancy it).
We’ll then head over to Kinder downfall via Barber Booth & Upper Booth to the second big scramble (again avoidable if needed) by dropping down into the downfall and then back up Arpeggio Gully (grade 3).
At this point the walk can take a shorted route back to Castleton (about 14 miles total) or an even shorter route of around 12 miles. I’m shouting out for a second meet leader to take the short route back, to get in touch if you can take this on.???
For people wanting to do the full round, its then over to the Red Brooks scrambles (one down and one up) and then head down Fair Brook to the A57 and the Snake Inn. From here its pretty much south all the way taking in Blackden Brook & Ringing Roger. Total ascent for the full round is ~1,730m.
An early start, 7am from Castleton so we can hit the ridge before traffic starts to build.
Let me know if you are coming and also if you can help lead the shorter route.
Cheers
Kial
