In 1971 the Club organised a lecture by the famous mountaineer, Don Whillans, about the 1971 International Mount Everest Expedition. It was held at Sheffield City Hall on 15th September. The poster below was produced to advertise the event (click for a full size version).

The 32cm x 50cm original was hand-drawn by Kerry Brooksbank, an early member of the Club who was a qualified architect and also designed the Clubroom. Mike Anderson who helped to organise the event, retained the poster afterwards. After he died, it was donated to the Club by his son, Mark. It will be framed and hung in the Clubroom.
The event was reported by a report in the Sheffield Morning Telegraph, which included a photo of Don with Mike and Ashley Turner.
