1.Location
The Patterdale Youth Hostel is located about a mile south of Patterdale village (GR 399156) and can be approached from the south via the Kirkstone Pass or exit 40 ( Penrith) on the M6 ( a good idea if conditions on the Kirkstone are dodgy!).
2.Arrival at the hostel
Check in at reception which opens at 5pm-but possibly earlier. There is nothing to pay (I will collect your money later!).The hostel provides full bedding so no need for sleeping bags.

3.Food & booze
The hostel has full self catering facilities and also provides breakfast & dinner for those wanting it-book at reception. Prices-breakfast £4.99,dinner£7.50(one course only)£9.95 (2 courses) £11.95 (3 courses).Bottles of wine and beer can be bought at the hostel (but the hostel’s licence prohibits guests from drinking their own alcohol).
There also a pub in Patterdale which serves bar meals, but it does get busy.
Might be worth considering a meal as a group at the hostel.
