A figure of eight walk, so you can do the first 6.25 miles. or the second 5.25 miles or the whole thing- 11.5miles by string. Quite hilly, varied and very scenic. Something for everyone.
Park on the B6049 at the south end of Tideswell, on road free parking, and gather outside the Horse and Jockey pub for the usual 11am start. g.r. 152754.
We will walk westward, crossing over, but not going on, Monks Dale, and up to Wormhill and the charming church. Then down to Chee Dale nature reserve and walk along the river to the Miller’s Dale parking, and up over the fields with far reaching views back to Tideswell. The second loop takes us over towards Litton, across the tops and staying on the upper footpath that runs parallel to Cressbrookdale. Then west finally dropping down briefly to Miller’s Dale, and back up Tideswell Dale to finish outside the pub… we might feel like going in after all this! There is a shorter, 4.3 mile, but less satisfactory second loop, if weather, time neccessitates. cheers, Linda.
