Given the disappearance of the “Crafnant” meet this weekend, people may be interested in knowing that there will be a fly-past of both the remaining airworthy Lancaster bombers, plus a Spitfire and a Hurricane, at the Derwent dams, tomorrow, Sunday 21 Sep. The aircraft will be returning to RAF Coningsby after an air-show at Southport, and are expected to pass the Derwent dam at about 4.45pm. There will probably be complete traffic and parking chaos in the Derwent valley, especially as there is also a 50-mile ultra-marathon run going round all the reservoirs 2 1/2 times. I plan to try to watch the fly-past from somewhere near Whinstone Lee Tor (197875) after a more extended walk probably via Back Tor. I believe Charles plans to cycle to Fairholmes.

I would have loved to join you JB but sadly I’m working this afternoon. I’ll keep an eye out at that time as they may pass over east Sheffield on route back to Coningsby. It’ll be a lovely sight – perfect weather for it!
