13 walkers and 1 cyclist met near Hope school. It was a cold grey day without distant views, yet the walking was nevertheless enjoyable. Hopefully the cycling was too. We followed lanes and paths to Aston where the main ascent of the day commenced. We were soon in a zone of hoarfrost and made a coffee stop in a reasonably sheltered grassy saucer shaped hollow discovered by Steve.
A bitingly cold breeze was at our backs as we pressed on up to Win Hill where Dave risked frost bitten fingers to take a group photo at the trig point. Pleasant straightforward walking along Hope Brink continued until Martin issued a one minute warning that lunchtime was approaching. We duly found a semi – sheltered spot by the adjacent stone wall and took a fairly short break, it being decidedly chilly.
Not long after this we cut down the slope on a concession path to Upper Fulwood Farm, crossed the road, went under the railway and turned left across fields to the footpath and lanes leading back to Hope. 7 miles said Andy’s GPS, and I agree.
    Thanks for coming everyone.
    Frank & Jennifer.
