A figure of eight walk, both loops being about 5.5 miles long, and enjoying the special delights around Hartington, about a 20 minute drive s.w.of Bakewell.
Meet at the pond in the centre of the village, g.r.128605. There is lots of on street parking , and a pay and display car park .
Leaving the pond at 9.45am, we will head north to Pilsbury castle, on a delightful path which contours high above the valley. Views of the ancient reef limestone hills, and the gritstone summit of Sheen hill are particularly impressive.
Lunch back in Hartington, either own picnic or a cafe, then onto the southern loop of Wolfscote dale and Biggin dale. There are a few caves to explore, so a torch could be useful. The dales have plenty of craggy views, and pass through a nature reserve.
If anyone would like a lift, I have 3 spaces. Linda
