In cool, dry and clear conditions a party of 13 was soon ‘enjoying’ the short but steep climb up to Whinstone Lee Tor, where we joined the main path along Derwent Edge. Views at this stage were good all around but as we progressed a strong breeze developed. We found some shelter in the lee of rocks beside the path for a brief refreshment stop, then headed off to Back Tor. At this point low cloud arrived and it began to rain, making it feel decidedly wintry. There was to be no lingering on Lost Lad and we descended across the moorland to a small plantation for some shelter and lunch.
The track led us down past Wellhead where we joined the reservoir path for the final stretch to our starting point. 8.6miles.
Thanks for coming.
Sean.
