The plan is to catch the 09:40 “Dambuster” 222 shuttle bus
from Fairholmes to King’s Tree. (The road is closed to
private cars on Sundays in the summer.) The bus stop is near
the little roundabout SK 172 894. Free parking SK 173 890.
From King’s Tree the walk goes to Slippery Stones then up
Linch Clough to Grinah Stones. Then heading for Swains Head,
we will make our way round to Cut Gate and over Margery Hill
before descending to the valley and a walk by Derwent
Reservoir back to the start. About 14 miles 2400 ft of
ascent. Should be a good bit of bogtrotting. See you there.
Don’t forget to bring your bus pass if you have one.
