The early morning mist quickly burnt off and 8 of us met in clear sunshine below Derwent Water Arms.
From there we climbed the steep hill to the pleasant ridge through Bramley Wood with its Rhododendron bushes and distant views of Chatsworth.Continuing on through Bank Wood North and South we stopped for coffee on a grassy bank at the end of the ridge-not the meet leader’s intended location, but others beat us here !
We then continued to Hassop passing the recently re-opened Eyre Arms before heading to Pilsley.
Lunch was taken by the picnic table and grassy area outside the village.
Ignoring the temptation of the Pilsley Inn we continued over fields to reach Bubnell Hall and from there crossed the notoriously boggy area below Bramley Farm which, for once, was completely dry.
Following the river back to Calver we all succumbed to the temptation of a post walk tea and rather nice cake stop at the inviting craft shop cafe.A great way to end an enjoyable walk in the current spell of glorious spring weather.
