Training – Emergency First Aid course 29-30th March 2025.

Andy Burgess from the Peak club has arranged another first aid course, which is also open to members of the Castle club. The details from Andy are below. If you would like to attend please contact Andy directly. andy1burgess@aol.com Both clubs have agreed to subsidise the course to make sure it is viable.

The likely cost is £90-75 per person, depending on if the club fills the course. This is a complete bargain compared to joining other providers, & having done the course myself twice now I can definitely recommend it. TBH all members should have some first aid knowledge so you are more self sufficient in case of accidents.

The course is certified for 3 years – so anyone who’s done it before would need to repeat it to keep their certificate valid – and is an entry point for the REC scheme. REC: Outdoor First Aid (16 hr) It is the approved course for RYA, PUK, MLT.

The course would be 2 full days (9:00-17:00); 29-30th March 2025; & includes training, assessment, & certification. It’s likely to be at Fulwood Scout Hut, 551 Fulwood Road, S10 3QH.

Potentially we may have spaces for non-members so get in touch if you know anyone else who’s interested.

Thanks for this, I’ve e-mailed Andy. Our current 3 year certs for 2-day first aid, needed for British Canoeing expire late next year so will need to redo some time. The 2 day outdoor first aid courses are brilliant and very comprehensive, highly recommended for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities.
