14 set out from Shillito Wood car park in promising weather, along an inevitably boggy track, before gently ascending to cross the Baslow – Owler Bar road. From here, we carried on towards Burbage Bridge, before ascending to White Edge, where we were rewarded by a light rain shower, before turning left along towards the Curbar Gap end. It is scary to think that it is only a few years ago that both the ascending path, and that along White Edge itself were both barely discernible dents in the vegetation, instead of the occasional boggy mess they are now. Steve Warwick led us to an impressively sheltered lunch spot overlooking the now drained Barbrook reservoir. From there, it was almost to the end of White Edge where we dropped off to the nature reserve reservoir via Sheffield to Tideswell marker stones. We then followed the large track back, stopping briefly to consider a sacrifice at the stone circle, (photos to follow, courtesy Vanda) via the now also drained Ramsley reservoir to the cars. 9.2 mainly dry miles, to compensate for lack of ups and downs!!
