Six of us met by the dam of More Hall reservoir for a circuit around the water. We crossed the dam and set off along the path on the south side, turning up to pass through the wildflower meadows of Carr House reserve. Bud Lane took us to the road, then a walk across fields and along an overgrown path brought us to Spout House which we circled to the old quarries with a fine view north for our coffee stop.
Downhill from there (with a slight diversion due to the leader’s inattentiveness) took us to the road, which we turned off opposite Snell House to cross Raynor Clough and gain the track down to Raynor House. Another path from there gave us a quick taste of bog, before exiting onto the road and New Mill Bridge. A group decision was made to do the ascent before lunch, so we headed up to Cote House then east a couple of fields to a nice ledge with southward view for our stop.
All that remained was to head east along Hollin Edge, then down through the wood, pausing to say hello to the newly re-headed Dragon of Wantley. before the road back to the cars.
A pretty circuit on a nice day, enjoyed by all.
