Thank you for your booking the North London Mountaineering Club barn, we hope you enjoy your stay.

The building is a converted Barn and as such is in the style of simple mountain accommodation. It sleeps 30 in Alpine style bunks.
Arrival time from noon
Depart by noon unless otherwise arranged

Parking at the barn
Parking is in the small car park by the Bryn Glo Cafe. Please do not park in front of the gate. It is advisable not to leave any gear or valuables in your vehicle.

Access to the barn is via the stile next to the gate and then there is a 5 minute up the track, a torch will be needed at night. There is no vehicle access except for emergencies. In an emergency a key for the gate is held in the Club cottage another 100 yards up the track, it is only available if there are members in the cottage. Also again and only in an emergency a key is held for the gate at the Bryn Glo Café.

To access the property there is a keypad door lock, your code will have been sent to you approximately a week before your arrival. A head torch comes in handy if arriving after dark.

WHAT TO BRING
• Sleeping bags (there are some pillows provided if needed)
• Eco washing up liquid and sponges, including tea towels
• Toilet rolls, there may be a supply in the barn but this can’t be guaranteed
• Wood for the fire (if you’d like a cosy evening with your fellow guests)

The barn waste drainage is via a septic tank, to ensure this keeps ticking over we ask you to kindly use Eco washing up liquid such as Ecover. This can be purchased at most supermarkets.
WHAT’S PROVIDED
• There will be a small supply of ecover cleaning liquids for the floors, toilets and kitchen surfaces as well as brooms and mops and refuse bags
• Large fridge
• Cutlery, utensils, plates, pots and pans
• Hot shower, two toilets
• There is a microwave, toaster and kettles
• Eight gas rings, double oven and grill

WHEN YOU ARRIVE
• There are two main electricity isolating switches located in the electricity meter cupboard by the front door to the right as you come inside. Access to them is via the signed access hole in the cupboard door, both these switches need to be turned on when you arrive, and turned off when you leave.

CONDITIONS OF USE
It is the responsibility of the person making the booking to ensure all people using the Barn will abide by the conditions of use set out here.

When you arrive, the Barn should be clean and tidy, when you leave it should be the same.
• All crockery and utensils washed up and put away
• Floors swept and mopped, kitchen surfaces wiped down
• Sinks and washroom facilities clean
• Bins emptied.
• Non-recycling refuse deposited in orange NLMC bin in the car park.
• There is no recycling bin in the car park anymore. We kindly ask that you take it with you and find appropriate bins elsewhere. Please do not use the orange NLMC bin for recycling.
• All furniture returned to its original place.
• All food to be taken away with you

If you find the barn in an unsatisfactory state, please inform Rob, barn booking secretary, so we can speak to previous occupants asap

• All breakages and any problems reported via email to Jo, the barn booking secretary, so we can get them fixed
• No camping or fires outside except BBQ raised off the floor (the land surrounding is not ours, it belongs to the National Park)
• No pets or animals
• No smoking in the property

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
Cooking
There are 8 gas rings, 2 ovens and a grill fuelled by one of two calor gas cylinders connected together outside at the rear of the property. Please leave the gas supply alone if there is no trouble. If the gas rings will not light, or go out while cooking it is probable that the gas cylinder in use has run out of gas.

• No cooking or heating devices of your own to be used in the Barn.

Water and toilets
The water is on the mains; the main stop cock is to the right of the sink this should always be left turned on. All pipes and sinks have isolating valves in case of a leak.

• Toilets- sewage goes into a septic tank, only bodily waste and soft paper to be flushed. Do not deposit sanitary towels, tampons or anything other than toilet paper in the bowl.

Heating
There is a wood burning stove in the main room. Only burn timber no coal. You are welcome to use any timber left in the barn by previous occupants but it is likely there will be none! Wood can be purchased in Betws Y Coed (Spar), or Capel Curig (Pinnacles store). [worth bringing wood]
Removal of fallen wood from around the barn/ cottage is not permitted by the National Park who owns all the land around the property. Wood can be purchased in Betws or Capel Curig.

The stove can get very hot, do not leave clothing or boots to dry near it is a fire risk.

• The electric wall heater in the wash room/toilet works on a timer.
• In addition there are 2 portable and 2 wall mounted electric heaters that can be used as necessary.

FIRE PRECAUTIONS
1. Mains electricity smoke detection system installed, do not tamper with detectors but please test.
2. No smoking inside at any time.
3. Internal doors are fire doors and should not be wedged open.
4. Fire extinguishers and blankets should not be moved unless needed to put out a fire.
5. Do not leave any items on heaters to dry.
6. Make sure all gas burners and electric oven are turned off after cooking.
7. No camping stoves allowed on the premises.
8. Make sure all occupants are aware of fire exit doors, in toilet area, main entrance and at top end of dining area.
9. Do not leave clothing or boots to dry near or on the wood burning stove
