10 members turned up, eventually, for a slightly delayed start, with warm dry weather forecast for the bulk of, or possibly all the walk. A slither through mud along the top of what passes for Chatsworth edge and descent into Baslow where the loos and the village sweet shop were raided. Then up through the village and underneath Baslow edge before doubling back up to the Wellington monument, a buttie at Curbar gap carpark, where we lost points for lack of seats, coffee or ice cream vans, then up to White edge before doubling back to squelch across the top of Birchens, and the short descent to the Robin Hood. The spy in the sky tracked us for 7.3 miles. Dave and Linda left promptly, to raid the soup supplies at home before joining the fun in Keswick. Four of us got back to Chesterfield and had just broken out the mulled wine and Christmas cake when the heavens opened. Not bad timing at all.

    Happy New Year
