A lovely day saw 7 of us assemble above Fairholmes for a walk of ups and downs. We set off up through the woods. then down the track past Rowlee Farm to a deserted A57 where some lay or sat to check the comfort of the tarmac. A coffee stop at the bottom of the rough track up to Hope Cross gave a view of 2 of the landslips on the road, then we ascended to the junction before the Cross and took lunch. From there it was downhill on the rough track through the woods to the bridge at the west end of Ladybower. The dirt track up to the A57 provided a display of liveaction toadporn, watched by others of the species. On the main road we were passed by just one vehicle before turning off to the pleasant old trackway up through Grimbocar Wood. Emerging onto fields at the top we had good views of the twin peaks of Crook Hill before heading NW across Bridge-end Pasture and a descent back to the cars. Andy’s GPS indicated 8.00 miles at the car park, so we were just within our Thursday limit.
