    I am going on a short walk approx 5km to observe, hopefully, the deer rutting, at Calke Abbey from a renovated historical deer hyde, this Wednesday 20 October. It will be an early start as this is one of the best times.
    If interested, meet 7.30am SK 367226 in main overflow carpark. If using Satnav use postcode DE73 7JF.
    Calke Abbey is 10 miles south of Derby on A514 Ticknall M42/A42 exit and A50 Derby South signposted from A42.
    Bring binos etc. No sightings guaranteed. Breakfast in cafe which opens at 10.00. There is also a garden outdoor photographer of the year exhibition around the walled garden to take in.
    I have a mid afternoon commitment so will be heading back to Sheffield around 1pm at the latest.
