Thursday Walk report 15 April

Two parties left Cutthroat Layby on a beautiful sunny morning. The fleet footed group were first away, followed 10 minutes later by the flat footed team. This stratagem ensured that the distance between the parties would steadily increase as the walk progressed, thereby complying with the rule of 6.
From Cutthroat Bridge we followed the track on the edge of the moor down to Ladybower reservoir and along its shore to two separate and equally pleasant coffee stops. We all had the company of several birds including some inquisitive ducks who came prospecting for crumbs. A lowflying police helicopter obligingly completed this idyllic scene.
The next section included the paved way up to Grindle Barn beyond which we had lunch with lovely views and rising temperatures. One member swapped a startling tangerine coloured top for an even brighter yellow one and several of us donned sunglasses. The ascent continued up to Derwent Edge from where a cooling breeze accompanied us down towards Moscar with lambs and curlews completing the spring scene. A sharp right turn took us back to the starting point where both groups were finally within sight of each other. Thank you all for your company on a glorious April day.
