After the unfortunate recent event in the Lake District, where a volunteer from the Patterdale Mountain Rescue, Chris Lewis, received life-changing injuries whilst going to the aid of two walkers, the Castle committee has decided that it would be an appropriate gesture for our club to donate £100 to the Chris Lewis fund, set up to aid him in his recovery, and £100 to Patterdale Mountain Rescue.
Over the years, the Castle club has had many meets in the Lake District, often in Patterdale, and are aware of the fantastic job the Mountain Rescue do, giving up their own time on any day of the year in any weather, to help others in need. None of us go out with the intent of calling out the Mountain Rescue, but it is reassuring to know that if we are ever in trouble, people like Chris Lewis are willing to come to our aid.
If any club member would like to give their own individual donation in addition to this, the ‘Chris Lewis support fund-seriously injured’ has already been set up on the JustGiving website, which is very straight forward to access – just Google ‘JustGiving Chris Lewis support fund’ and donate by clicking ‘give now’.
