After a delayed start due to lack of parking spaces a party of 21 set off up the steep bank on to Derwent Edge. It was a glorious autumn morning and when the gradient eased we paused to admire the view over Ladybower reservoir and the surrounding hills.
We enjoyed a brief coffee break before descending past the stone shelter at Grindle Clough to reach the track round the reservoir.
Lunch was taken at Fairholmes where we were entertained by a team of parading ducks.
A couple of people (walking wounded and sympathiser) elected to return via the concession path down the west bank of Ladybower. The rest toiled up through the woods to Lockerbrook and thence towards Crook Hills. By now rain was threatening but after a short debate the vast majority decided to brave the conditions and continue up to the two rocky tops. After a short descent we arrived at the cars having avoided a wetting.
