11 of us met on a dismal day to don waterproofs and gaiters. Fortunately the rain never really developed and we walked through slightly muddy fields over many stiles to Linacre reservoirs. The autumnal woods were lovely and the water a pleasant green due to the after effects of the summer’s blue/green algae problem. Toilets en route gained us a point on our first walk as leaders but the trees and rain dripping on the lunchtime log lost that one. Ducksick woods had developed a small stream since our recce but this was no obstacle to the intrepid walkers. Andy’s magic machine said we had walked a touch over eight and a half miles which was a surprise as Dick had spent a lot of time devising a route to ensure we got to seven. Back to our house for the promised tea and a bun (Morrisons doughnuts proved a hit).
