A small [5 of us] but perfectly formed [?] group met at Millthorpe for this approx. 7 mile anti-clockwise walk through Cartledge, to the outskirts of Dronfield, where we stopped for coffee on ‘teletubby’ grassy mounds [apparently built to hide any view of the new housing estate from across the valley] before heading south to Cowley, and then on new paths to Common Side for lunch in warm sunshine, where there was an opportunity to have a bench each, if desired. Then onwards, again on some new paths [only one slight deviation, when the meet leader delayed checking her map as the others strode ahead] and a bit of road walking through Rumbling Street [some unusual stone meerkats were spotted in recesses above a front door] before turning north back towards Millthorpe. We had blue sky and sunshine all day [a very welcome change] and managed to get above the snowline, but definitely below the mud-line, so hopefully the meet leader earned some brownie points by providing boot-washing facilities in the ford just before our parked cars.
Thank you all for your excellent company. Vanda Boyd
