On the back of the discussions about putting personal emergency contact details on your phone, there are also apps you can download which tell the emergency services where you are.
I know of two but there must be others.
1. what3words. This app has divided the world into 3*3m squares and has assigned a unique three word code for each square.
2, Echo SOS. This app has been recommended to me by two mountain guides. Once downloaded on your phone you can use it to call the emergency services in the country you are in. The phone will automatically give the relevant emergency service the grid reference/long lat of your location. (??Presumably you could use it to check your location if you did not have a GPS???)

there may be better apps. If you know of any do post on the message board. Id like to know the pros and cons of the differet apps.
