Start at 10 from Whitehouse Farm, ST13 8UW.
Slight change of plan.
Linear walk starting from here. c 10-11 miles. We will need to do a car shuffle for the far end, so if you are not coming to BBQ but fancy the walk. let me know so can arrange car space.
The walk is one of my favourites because of the chaning scenery and landscapes: moorland, gritstone valleys, ridges and limestone dales and field patterns. Although the trend is down we do climb up a series of ridges, from where, on a good day you get fantastic views. There is an option to visit the Squadron 47 cairn. In 1947 the Staffordshire Moorlands villages were cut off due to snow. A lancaster bomber (i think) flew over to drop off food parcels but unfortunately crashed killing all on board. The walk starts in what feels like back country where hopefully we wont see other walkers, then as we go on we pass through quiet Moorlands villages then the popular Manifold Valley. We will finish in Hope or Alstonfield and there will be a cafe opportunity in Wetton. There is an option to leave or join at Grindon. Bring lunch
