Another lovely spring day! Lots of warm sunshine, splendid views and nature bursting out all over. Fifteen of us set off ( along with a different version of Poppy) through Shatton and up towards the mast. A steep climb was rewarded with an early coffee stop in a sheltered spot with fine views of Bamford, Hathersage and the Hope Valley. Much easier walking brought us to the parting of the ways. First Frank, then John went, leaving us a pleasant walk through Abney to a sunny lunch spot at Stoke Ford. With clothing suitably adjusted and 2 of Marian’s jokes (?) for amusement we continued down the valley. Catkins galore followed by pussy willows, more photo opportunities, and keen bird-spotting (great spotted and green woodpeckers) plus advanced ornithological vocabulary – sprawk, mippets and leowls amused us to Offerton . We then took the riverside path back to Shatton – mandarin ducks, mallards and a dipper. Fantastic weather for the last two Thursdays! Thank you all who came.
