    9 members met at the top of Deep Dale, on a very cold plateau,with a scattering OS snow,but very bright sun. We crossed the fields to Sheldon, then down to the river, and through Shacklow Wood. Coffee was taken by an old mill, where one intrepid explorer climbed walls an the mill wheel to try to find a way in. From here we walked up Taddington Fields, to Wheel Lane and back to the cars. A very enjoyable winter day

    Apparently the two-wheel water mill we passed was formerly a bone mill. See Derbyshire Heritage website:
