Bright autumn sunshine gave us a lovely walk from Little Longstone. 10 members plus Poppy set off up the path beside the Packhorse in Little Longstone and zigzagged up to Longstone edge via Chertpit Lane, stopping at intervals to take off layers and admire the view southwards. A coffee stop just over the edge gave us northward views before heading off to Wardlow and the track to Cressbrookdale. Another vista was enjoyed from our lunch stop at the top of the dale before heading south down through the woods, where sunlight dappled through the trees. Views of Ravensdale crag attracted the group’s photographers, who were snapping again at Water-cum-Jolly. A stroll along the Monsal trail took us to the ascent to Monsal Head, where the benches provided a brief rest. Steve joined us here, after an Achilles-relieving bike ride. Some dived into the Packhorse at the end, while the meet leader went home to complete making 2kg of picallili. An excellent day, thanks to all for coming along.
