14 people set off from Leadmill Bridge in the hot sunny weather that we have all become used to. We followed a sometimes shady track to Stokes Ford and had coffee on the grassy area by the stream. Keeping to the lower paths we walked up Bretton Clough and on to Abney. A short stretch of road took us to Offerton Moor , where a short hot ascent led to glorious views across the Hope Valley and all that surrounds it.
We descended to the stepping stones where there was evidence of work being done to remove the obstacle of the large fallen tree and dislodged stones
Returning along the riverside path, the highlight for some was seeing a water vole swimming across the river and scampering up the bank
