Nine CMC members set off from Grindleford Station along the River Derwent, at a leisurely pace, with the odd dipper for company. After a coffee stop we headed into Hathersage and enjoyed lunch in the play ground where John joined us with far superior nourishment on a plate. Next, Vanda , with limited success, attempted to spin in a large silver dish and confirmed that this is not to be recommended as a new form of indigestion remedy! The aftrnoon involved ascending through blue bell woods and open hill side towards Owler Tor, which commanded fine views of the Hope Valley. We then descended to Lawrencefield and followed the wonderful track through the avenue of birch trees and millstones to the bottom end of Padley Gorge. A short distance down past the two million pound mansions then led us to our cars. Final distance 6.2 miles. Thank you for the company.
