Contact telephone number on your mobile phone, IN CASE of EMERGENCY – ICE
Information for those club members who may not be aware of this:
If you store a chosen contact number under the ‘name’ ICE on your mobile phone, others, including the emergency services who know about this facility, will be able to call your contact if you are incapacitated or unable to do so.
If you have an iPhone , there is an extra useful app that will allow your ICE contact details to be accessed on your phone when it is locked.
To set this up
Find the Health app that will normally already exist on your iPhone. Open the app and select *Medical ID from the menu at the bottom of the screen. Add in emergency contact details here plus any medical conditions that you would like someone to know about in case of an emergency. Save this information to store it.
To use in an emergency
Press the Home key (once or twice depending on model) to bring up the keypad where your passcode is entered. Do not enter a code but select Emergency at the bottom of the screen. Selecting this will take you to a screen with a keypad to call emergency services, but also shows *Medical ID at the bottom. Selecting this will take you to the details that you set up above allowing someone to call them if necessary.
This was discussed at a recent committee meeting, and a suggestion made that we pass this information on to others in our club. Vanda Boyd and Kathy Burgess
