Sat 27 July: Russ C’s 65th b’day event

Hi there everyone,

I’ve been planning a day out on the Dark Peak moors on Saturday 27 June, followed by an evening birthday bash in Bamford. Now, Lynne’s just received the go-head for her second hip replacement. There’s no specific date yet, but it is quite likely that Lynne will be convalescing and unable to travel at the end of June, so I’m cancelling the venue and the catering. If circumstances permit – the op. is later or earlier than anticipated – we could go for a more low key bash on the 27th with a round of the hills followed by a meal and beers in the pub. We’ll see. In the meantime, the next significant date for a birthday celebratory “run” round the Derwent Watershed is 2 July 2020 when I’m likely to need more than a day to complete the task!

Of course, this is really good news on two counts. One, Lynne is looking forward to a pain free return to the hills later in the year, and two, I’m saving money!
