    Hi All,

Not long now till this meet, I still have room if anyone else wants to join?

To people that are already coming I have attached the huts user guide, please have a read through it.
One thing to note is the bunks, it says the mattresses are very thin and hard and its better to supplement with your own sleeping mat. Also don’t forget your sleeping bags 🙂
I was thinking we could do a communal meal on Saturday evening, everyone bring some ingredients to make a curry – what’s your thoughts?

    Cheers

Reminder to all climbers – its the climbers meeting this coming Thursday at The Stags Head or via Zoom (see details in this thread).
I’d really like as many of you involved as possible, you might not want to lead any meets which is fine but I want to get a feel for what type of meets everyone wants. Is it just climbing Trad on gritstone or do you want to mix it up and add in Limestone? Or a bit further afield and climb granite? Do you want to do some sport climbing or even some bouldering days? You might be more interested in big mountain days and doing some classic multi-pitch routes in the Lakes, Wales and Scotland? Or a trip to the French Alps might be more your thing.
If the club doesn’t know what type of climbing people want then the calendar will just look pretty much the same as recent years.
Could you let me know either if you are coming along in person, via Zoom or just email me your ideas – kial.wright@googlemail.com

Cheers, hope to see lots of you there (or virtually)

    Hi All,

I’m being optimistic and hoping we aren’t on some kind of lockdown come the 6th Jan and I have booked a room at https://mystagshead.co.uk/ Psalter Lane for holding this meeting. It’s free for us to use provided we buy drinks whilst there.
Myself and Gemma will be getting there around 6.15 for a bite to eat with meeting commencing 7.15pm. You’re welcome to join us for food or just come along later for the meeting.
For those that can’t make it in person I’ll also broadcast via Zoom (log on details to follow).

Can you let me know if you plan on attending so I can get back to the pub with an estimate on numbers.

    Thanks
    Kial

    Hi Dave,

Yes that’s fine, once I’ve found a suitable venue then I can also host on Zoom too for anyone not able to make it or want to be inside a crowded space.

Just to be clear this isn’t all members.
If I’m not mistaken, the new members that have just joined in the last couple of months don’t need to pay again, the subs they have paid take them through to end of 2022.

I have booked https://www.coetmormill.co.uk/ for a long weekend in January, 3 nights arriving on Thursday January 13th and departing 16th January.
The mill can sleep up to 34 people (but we probably want to keep it 20 max. in the current circumstances) spread between 3 alpine style bunks and has a large fully equipped kitchen, showers and kit drying room.
Fingers crossed for snow & ice (doubtful, but we can hope) for some winter mountaineering but failing that, it’s still a great location to get a couple of good mountain days with a few scrambles thrown in.
    It costs £10/night/person and I require a £10 deposit / person.
Let me know if you want to come along and I’ll add you to the list and send you bank details to transfer the deposit.

    People attending already are:
    Kial
    Leon & Josie
    Matt & Rosie
    Chris Lunn
    Geoff Nichols
    John Hutch

    Cheers

Forecast is slightly better today with no rain after 10am.
I aim to be at the crag for 11am so leaving carpark at 10.45.
Let me know your coming please so I don’t make a wasted trip.

Steve I’ll let you know before 1pm if people are still there.

    Thanks

Weather forecast not looking the best for tomorrow with chance of rain until 11am.
I’ll assess again in the morning but forecast is pretty much the same for the whole of the peaks so not worth a change of venue.
I’ll let everyone know by 9am tomorrow if it’s still going ahead, it might just mean a slightly later start.
Can people let me know if you are thinking of coming
    Thanks

Hi Richard, only 2 routes below HS.
A few HS routes then loads of VS and above. To be fair they are easy in the grade and are longer routes so probably enough HS to keep you busy for the day.
Also a good number of two pitch routes so you can always do alternate leads and take the easier pitch.

More members have booked on to this meet, we have going:

    Kial
    Gemma
    Geoff
    John Hutch
    Pete Hammond

    Plus new members:
    Helen Elizabeth
    Rossie & Matt
    Laura & Gordon

I still have one space free in a 4 person lodge, again it’s a first come first served basis.

    Cheers

What are people’s plans for this weekend… I’m planning to arrive around 12 o’clock tomorrow (Friday) so have the afternoon to climb or walk if anyone else is arriving early?

    Meet update:
Another 3 people signed up so I have gone ahead and booked a second 4 person lodge, one space available for anyone that wants to come along – there’s been a small price increase to £158 per person.
They have had a load of bookings over the weekend so space is now limited. At present they have left:
2 person one bedroom lodge for the same dates
2 person one bedroom lodge from the 20th Feb
5 person two bedroom lodge from the 23rd Feb
Anyone else interested will have to be quick if you want space here.

    Update on this week away:
The lodge I have already booked has now been filled (myself, Gemma, John Hutch and Pete Hammond with Geoff staying close by).
If more are interested then I can get another 4 bed lodge booked. They still have space at present. If you can get in touch and let me know, as soon as I have enough commitment I will get a second lodge booked.

    Thanks
    Kial
