Meet 11.00an as usual in Shatton (GR204825)
Park in Shatton or at Mytham Bridge.
A gentle bimble around Shatton and Offerton Moor to Offerton Hall and a return to Shatton along the Derwent.
I have booked sunny intervals and a gentle breeze but I am not optimistic!!Four intrepid souls set out full of enthusiasm. It started to spit with rain about 11.30 and by 12.00 steady fine rain was falling which persisted to the end. Highlights of the day were a conversation with the farmer at 183803 where he had built a stone bench, rebuilt the drystone wall and moved some huge rocks into place to use as tables. He also told us some interesting facts about the carcinogenic properties of bracken plus we later located the “stone circle” he had built at 193805. Overall a soggy day out but a good chuckle!!
