13 walkers and a cyclist met at the Porter Clough Car Park. The weather was warm but pleasantly breezy.
Just over half an hour’s walk brought us to the Ox Stones where an early coffee stop was enjoyed. The path west across the moor was much easier to follow than I remember, mostly due to the recent heatwave, and possibly also because of its discovery by mountain bikers.
After crossing the brook below Burbage Bridge we headed up to the trig point on Stanage and then along the edge to a lunch spot on some low boulders.
We enjoyed lovely colours in the view south from the edge before turning right along the causeway and up to Stanage Pole from where we descended to the corner of the empty Redmires upper reservoir. An almost imperceptible ascent was followed across the flank of Rud Hill to emerge on Fulwood Lane which we followed back to the cars.
Andy’s GPS showed (a nicely judged) 8.0 miles
Thank you everybody for your company and banter.
