Andy, Rosie, Tracey and myself met at the glider field at Stanage in very grim conditions. Strong winds, cold, rain and very poor visibility led to murmurings of going to the cafe and other escape options. Even a forgotten waterproof almost thwarted the day’s proceedings. However we are made of sterner stuff and made our way up to the Edge and along to High Neb and Stanage End where the clag started to lift and a sheltered spot allowed a very swift lunch. A return was made along the bottom path to rejoin the Edge via the causeway to then drop down through the Plantation in quite sunny conditions , pwhere Andy made an unannounced inspection of the car park. A steady climb was made up to Carr Head Rocks, unfortunately getting back into the wind. A short wet section led down to Hook’s Carr and a contouring path was taken to near the Trig point and back to the cars. It was a strangely enjoyable walk despite the conditions.
Thanks to the perseverance of Andy, Rosie and Tracey as I had visions of doing the walk on own.
